5 Tips for Easy Fall Decor

The fall season is underway and the month of October has visions of pumpkins dancing in our heads. Fall means crisper weather, colorful leaves, and time to get seriously cozy – oh, and it also means pumpkin spice lattes on tap because YUM. Embrace the fall spirit with these five tips for autumn home decor:

Create a cozy space

The hot days of summer are quickly fading away and we are looking forward to a bit of chill in the air. As the season turns colder, adding blankets to your living spaces will keep you warm and snug inside. Drape a throw blanket or two over your couch for a cozy vibe and to easily cover those cold feet when having a movie night at home.

Make your own blanket with your favorite photos or family portraits for a heartfelt, homey touch. Toss in a few pillows printed with snowy landscapes, warm colors, or a custom plaid design and you’ll have a cozy space in time for fall and the holiday season.

Get festive with pumpkins

Sure, you can carve a wicked pumpkin for Halloween, but the pumpkin patch is also great inspiration for fall decor. Pick up some extra pumpkins in various sizes to display on your porch or around the house. A grouping of small pumpkins on the fireplace mantle or as a table centerpiece make a perfect fall statement. Mix things up by adding other gourds, like squash, to your display or by incorporating white, green, and multi-color pumpkins.

Change up your wall art

Fall is the perfect time to display new photos around the house. With lots of family and friends visiting during the coming holiday season, photos can be a great conversation starter as well as a way to make your home all the more you. Choose some of your favorite photos from the year to create canvas prints for a stunning gallery wall or single statement piece. If you’re displaying photos on a shelf, layer canvas prints and framed photos for an eye-catching collection.

Bring in warm lighting

A bit of mood lighting goes a long way in making a space feel cozy. Lighting candles – or even flicking on those battery-powered candles – is one of our favorite ways to bring warmth to a space. Group candles together for a romantic look or line them up as part of your dining table display. Just remember to put them out when you leave the room!

Make a coffee table book

Your table decor deserves a fall makeover too! A photo book is a fun way to spice up your coffee table. Gather your favorite digital pics from the year or from that awesome summer vacation and print a book to display all those great memories. It’s a fun keepsake to share with friends who visit or to flip through during commercial breaks when binge-watching all those holiday specials. Hocus Pocus marathon, anyone?
