Collage.com named to 2016 “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch”

LANSING, Mich. – Yesterday, custom photo products company Collage.com was honored as one of 2016’s  “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch” in recognition of the company’s explosive growth and exciting potential. Hundreds of companies are nominated for this prestigious list each year, which honors companies that are innovative, fast growing, and expected to have a breakout year in 2016.

“Collage.com grew from $900,000 in 2012 revenue to $22 million in 2015 without taking any outside investment – and we’re just getting started,” said Joe Golden, co-founder and co-CEO. “We’re humbled to be named to such a prestigious list and look forward to continued future growth.”

Collage.com makes custom photo products – like photo books, canvases, and fleece photo blankets – easy for anyone to create with powerful online tools and great customer service. The company’s innovative products have been featured multiple times on “Good Morning America,” the “TODAY Show,” and “The View.”

“We’ve come a long way since our beginnings as a University of Michigan project,” said Kevin Borders, co-founder and co-CEO. “We’re honored to be named as one of Michigan’s 50 most exciting companies, and can’t wait to continue our growth in 2016 and beyond.”

The company’s rapid growth has enabled Collage.com to give back to communities across Michigan. This year, Collage.com launched a matching donation campaign to raise funds for the Flint Child Health & Development Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, donating $5,015 in total. In 2015, Collage.com made a $11,500 donation to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, and donated another $10,885 in products to 96 different nonprofit and school groups around the country.

The “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch” list is named each year by Michigan Celebrates Small Business, a cooperative project by the Edward Lowe Foundation, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Business Network, America’s SBDC, U.S. Small Business Administration, Small Business Association of Michigan, and MiQuest.

Collage.com donates $11,500 to University of Michigan Cancer Center

Collage.com today announced its donation of $11,500 to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center. The company made the donation using proceeds from a special appearance on ABC’s “The View” in early October, where 10% of every Collage.com purchase was dedicated to this cause.

“Collage.com is honored to be able to support the University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Cancer Center’s lifesaving work for patients and families,” said Joe Golden, Collage.com co-founder and co-CEO. “As a Michigan-based company that employs multiple Michigan alumni – including myself – we’re especially pleased to donate to such an important cause in our own backyard.”

The donation will support wellness programs for cancer patients and their families through the Center’s Patient and Family Support Services (PFSS) Program. More than 20,000 cancer patients and their families have benefitted from PFSS programs since 1999. PFSS programs include (but are not limited to) psychological counseling, financial support, art/music therapy, and other complementary therapies.

“The generosity and the spirit of this donation will be honored by directly providing care and services to patients here at the University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Cancer Center,” said Donna Murphy, U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center director of patient and family support services. “The impact of a cancer diagnosis on both the person and their family can be very overwhelming and difficult; this gift will allow all who need support in any facet the ability to receive it. We are incredibly grateful and humbled to have been chosen by Collage.com and will steward this gift for patients with great pride.”

Collage.com – which started as a University of Michigan hobby project in 2007 – makes custom products easy for anyone to create online with powerful, easy-to-use software tools and great customer service. The company’s best-selling products include fleece photo blankets, photo books, and gallery wrap canvases. Earlier this week, Collage.com announced new mobile apps for iOS and Android, so customers can easily upload photos and create products wherever they go.

The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center in Ann Arbor is one of only 45 cancer centers in the United States to receive the “comprehensive” designation from the National Cancer Institute – the highest designation in the understanding and treatment of cancer. U-M’s Cancer Center is the only hospital in Michigan to rank in the top-50 of U.S. News’ list of the best hospitals for cancer.
